Dr Asef Anwar is an Australian-trained Oral Medicine specialist with a strong foundation in comprehensive clinical dentistry and a commitment to excellence in patient-centred care. He is known for his thoughtful, evidence-based approach to the diagnosis and management of complex oral and medically related conditions, working closely with both dental and medical colleagues to deliver optimal outcomes.
Dr Anwar completed his dual degrees from the University of Sydney, where he developed a broad clinical skill set across all aspects of general dentistry. Following graduation, he entered private practice and spent several years practising the full scope of dentistry, including dental implants, complex surgical procedures, and full-mouth rehabilitations. This extensive hands-on experience has provided him with a deep understanding of restorative, surgical, and prosthodontic principles, which continues to inform his specialist practice today.
Driven by a passion for managing complex oral disease and medically compromised patients, Dr Anwar went on to pursue specialist training in Oral Medicine at the University of Melbourne. This advanced training refined his expertise in the diagnosis and management of oral mucosal disease, orofacial pain, salivary gland disorders, oral manifestations of systemic disease, and potentially malignant oral conditions. His specialist background allows him to provide comprehensive assessments, nuanced diagnoses, and clear management plans tailored to each individual patient.
Dr Anwar is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS), reflecting his commitment to professional excellence and lifelong learning. He is also actively involved in education and assessment, serving as an examiner for dentists undertaking the RACDS Primary Examinations, contributing to the training and development of the next generation of dental professionals.
A strong advocate for continual professional development, Dr Anwar is committed to staying at the forefront of clinical knowledge and innovation.
